The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) recently concluded its third replication workshop led by Regina Zuniga and Yolanda Montances from the College of Tourism, Hospitality, and Transportation Management. The workshop aimed to enhance the syllabus of Entrepreneurship in Tourism, aligning it with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Under the guidance of Zuniga and Montances, who attended the third Training of Trainers in Can Tho, Vietnam, faculty members collaborated to revamp the curriculum, ensuring that it addresses the current needs of the tourism sector while promoting sustainability. The workshop was part of PUP's ongoing efforts to continuously improve its programs and align them with global standards. The enhanced syllabus now incorporates key aspects of entrepreneurship that are vital for sustainable tourism development. It emphasizes concepts such as social responsibility, environmental conservation, and community engagement, all of which are aligned with the UN SDGs.

By integrating these principles into the curriculum, PUP aims to produce graduates who are not only skilled entrepreneurs but also responsible stewards of the environment and advocates for social change. One of the significant outcomes of the workshop was the establishment of a committee dedicated to enhancing other core subjects within the Tourism and Hospitality Management program. This committee will explore opportunities to integrate entrepreneurship principles into various courses, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for the complexities of the industry.
